Wessede emigrated from Jamaica to the U.S. when she was 10 years old. She is graduating from the Arts and Humanities Academy at BHS where she was active in the Black Student Union and a member of BHS SHIFT (Sexual Health Information for Teens). She has worked with children at Live Oak Center through Youth Works and tutored children at Malcolm X. She will be the first in her family to attend college and plans to major in business and marketing.
